“Almighty
God, Who created this good land upon which we have established our heritage:
Grant
that we may prove to be a people mindful of Your favor and glad to do Your
will.
Give wisdom to our Governor and all who
administer authority here. Fill them with a love of truth and a spirit of
unity.
We pray to You for the integrity of our State,
the success of our schools, the fertility of our fields, the prosperity of our
businesses, and the preservation of all who serve.
May Your grace be upon those who labor in this
House and all who come within.
Grant that we may know the peace of the Lord
Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God now and forever.

House Resolution No. 10.
A resolution to declare January 20-26, 2019, as School Choice Week in the state of Michigan.
Whereas, All children in Michigan should have the right to the highest-quality schools possible; and
Whereas, Citizens across Michigan agree that improving the quality of education and expanding access to highly-effective schools should be issues of importance to our state’s leaders; and
Whereas, Michigan recognizes the critical role that an effective and accountable system of education plays in preparing all children to be successful in a global economy; and
Whereas, There are a multitude of high-quality public schools, public charter schools, and nonpublic schools in the state of Michigan; and
Whereas, Michigan has many outstanding teaching professionals in public, private, and charter schools across the state who are committed to educating children; and
Whereas, The vital cause of education reform is one that transcends ideology and political party affiliation; and
Whereas, Research in Michigan and across the nation demonstrates conclusively that providing parents with multiple schooling options improves academic performance; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare January 20-26, 2019, as School Choice Week in the state of Michigan. We call this observance to the attention of all our citizens; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the National School Choice Week organization with our highest esteem.

House Resolution No. 11.
A resolution to declare January 2019 as Local School Board Recognition Month in the state of Michigan.
Whereas, Michigan is home to more than 600 boards of education that work hard to enrich the lives of Michigan’s students through education and directly influence instruction in Michigan’s public schools; and
Whereas, Article VIII, Section 2, of the Michigan Constitution of 1963 states that providing for the education of Michigan’s children is a fundamental duty of state government; and
Whereas,
Our state’s public education system is designed to meet the educational needs
of all children and to empower them to become competent, productive contributors to
society and an ever-changing world; and
Whereas, Members of local school boards are dedicated to children, learning, and community, and devote many hours of service to elementary and secondary public education as they continually strive for improvement, excellence, and progress in education; and
Whereas, Local school boards recognize that all children can be successful learners, especially when education is tailored to individual needs of the child; and
Whereas, Local school board members are exceptional people, who have committed themselves to this duty by governing school districts and advancing student achievement in the schools and communities in which they serve; and
Whereas, During this month, we join the Michigan Association of School Boards, Michigan Department of Education, and local school districts and community organizations to recognize and raise awareness of the countless efforts and contributions of local school boards and school board members throughout Michigan; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare January 2019 as Local School Board Recognition Month in the state of Michigan. We urge all citizens to observe this momentous occasion.

RE: Record Look-up Fee Quarterly Report
In accordance with
Article VIII, Part 2, Section 703 of Public Act 107 of 2018, we have attached a
Record Look-Up Fee quarterly report for the Michigan Department of State (MDOS) for the first quarter of FY 2019.
Revenue collected
during the first quarter of FY 2018 and FY 2019 were $12,670,008 and
$13,037,231 respectively. Data used in the preparation of this report was
obtained from SIGMA Business Intelligence and the MDOS
Revenue Interface Branch Report.
