CONTENT

The bill would amend Article 25 of the Occupational Code to specify that the license cycle for real estate brokers, associate brokers, and salespersons beginning November 1, 2019, would end on December 31, 2020, for the purposes of certain continuing education requirements.

Article 25 requires a licensee to complete a certain number of hours of eligible continuing education courses in each licensing cycle, as determined by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. (Administrative Rule 339.22629 requires real estate brokers, associate brokers, and salespersons to complete six hours of continuing education for each year of the license cycle.)

In completing the appropriate number hours of eligible continuing education courses, a licensee must complete at least two hours of eligible continuing education courses in each year of a license cycle that involve law, rules, and court cases regarding real estate. The licensee may select any continuing education courses in his or her area of expertise to complete the remaining of eligible continuing education courses required under Article 25 and may complete those hours at any time during the license cycle. Under the bill, for the purposes of these provisions, the license cycle year beginning November 1, 2019, would end on December 31, 2020.
