SUMMARY:
House Bill 5033 would repeal the section of the Revised Statutes of 1846 which defines an "insane person."
Currently, an insane person "shall be construed to include an idiot, a non compos, a lunatic and an otherwise distracted person."
(Non compos, or non compos mentis, means not in one's right mind).
MCL 8.3g.
FISCAL IMPACT:
House Bill 5033 will have no fiscal impact on the state or local units of government.
