     A bill to designate an official language of this state.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1. (1) The English language is designated as the official

 

language of this state.

 

     (2) Except as otherwise provided by law, a state agency is not

 

required to provide documents, publish written materials, or

 

provide website content in any language other than the official

 

language of this state.

 

     (3) As used in this section, "state agency" means that term as

 

defined in section 115 of the management and budget act, 1984 PA

 

431, MCL 18.1115.
