A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled
"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"
by amending sections 43524 and 43526 (MCL 324.43524 and
324.43526), section 43524 as amended by 2002 PA 81 and section
43526 as amended by 1996 PA 585.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 43524. (1) A person shall not hunt wild turkey without
2 a wild turkey hunting license. The fee for a resident wild turkey
3 hunting license is $15.00. The fee for a nonresident wild turkey
4 hunting license is $69.00. Subject to subsection (3) and the
5 requirements of section 40113a, the commission may issue an order
6 requiring that all applications for wild turkey hunting licenses,
7 or applications for wild turkey hunting licenses for certain
1 geographic areas, be entered into a lottery designed and run by
2 the department. A person selected in a lottery, upon meeting the
3 requirements of this part, is authorized to purchase a wild
4 turkey hunting license. The license shall be issued for a
5 specified hunting period and shall confer upon the holder of the
6 license the right to hunt wild turkeys.
7 (2) The department may charge a nonrefundable application
8 fee not to exceed $4.00 for each application for a wild turkey
9 hunting license that is entered into a lottery pursuant to
10 subsection (1).
11 (3) The department shall issue a wild turkey hunting license
12 to every disabled veteran who applies for a wild turkey hunting
13 license.
14 (4) (3) From
fees collected under subsection (1) or (2), the
15 following amounts shall be used for scientific research,
16 biological survey work on wild turkeys, and wild turkey
17 management in this state:

25 (5) As used in this section, "disabled veteran" means that
26 term as defined in section 43537.
27 Sec. 43526. (1) A person shall not hunt deer during the
1 firearm deer season without purchasing a firearm deer license.
2 The fee for a resident firearm deer license is $13.00. Beginning
3 in 1999, the fee for a resident firearm deer license is $14.00.
4 Beginning in 2001, the fee for a resident firearm deer license is
5 $15.00. The fee for a nonresident firearm deer license is
6 $120.00. Beginning in 1999, the fee for a nonresident firearm
7 deer license is $129.00. Beginning in 2001, the fee for a
8 nonresident firearm deer license is $138.00. Where authorized by
9 the department, a resident or nonresident may purchase a second
10 firearm deer license in 1 season for the fee assessed under this
11 subsection for the firearm deer license for which that person is
12 eligible. However, a senior license discount is not available for
13 the purchase of a second firearm deer license. The department may
14 issue orders under part 401 designating the kind of deer that may
15 be taken and the geographic area in which any license issued
16 under this section is valid, when advisable in managing deer.
17 (2) The department may issue a kill tag with or as part of
18 each deer license. The kill tag shall bear the license number.
19 The kill tag may also include space for other pertinent
20 information required by the department. The kill tag, if issued,
21 is part of the license.
22 (3) The department shall charge a nonrefundable application
23 fee not to exceed $4.00 for each person who applies for an
24 antlerless deer license. Except as otherwise provided in section
25 43521, the fee for a resident antlerless deer license is $13.00.
26 Beginning in 1999, the fee for a resident antlerless deer license
27 is $14.00. Beginning in 2001, the fee for a resident antlerless
1 deer license is $15.00. The
fee for a nonresident antlerless deer
2 license is $120.00. Beginning in 1999, the fee for a nonresident
3 antlerless deer license is $129.00. Beginning in 2001, the fee
4 for a nonresident antlerless deer license is $138.00.
The
5 department shall issue an antlerless deer license to every
6 disabled veteran who applies for an antlerless deer license.
7 (4) As used in this section, "disabled veteran" means that
8 term as defined in section 43537.
