A bill to prohibit a local unit of government from charging a
fee to a person, or from seeking reimbursement for costs from a
person, for providing emergency response services at a motor
vehicle accident.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the
"emergency response services fee prohibition act".
Sec. 3. As used in this act:
(a) "Emergency response services" means police department
services, fire department services, or emergency medical services.
(b) "Local unit of government" means a county, city, village,
township, or charter township.
Sec. 5. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the
contrary, a local unit of government shall not enact, maintain, or
enforce an ordinance, regulation, or resolution that allows the
local unit of government to charge a fee to a person, or that
allows the local unit of government to seek reimbursement for costs
from a person, for the local unit of government providing emergency
response services at a motor vehicle accident.
