Complete to 5-12-09

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4169 AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON 5-6-09

The bill would amend Section 13a of the Probate Code to provide that in an order placing a child in foster care, the court would be required to issue an order that the child's parent, guardian, or custodian disclose to the Department of Human Services the names, addresses, and any other identifying information of the child's relatives, if known.  Providing this information does not guarantee that the child would be placed with a relative so identified.  However, information obtained would be used to assist in the process of determining placement for the child as required under the Foster Care and Adoption Services Act.

FISCAL IMPACT:

House Bill 4169 would have no fiscal impact on the judiciary
