A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4013 AS INTRODUCED 1-22-09

The bill would amend the Public Health Code to require a home for the aged or a nursing home upon the death of a resident or patient to immediately notify the next of kin, the authorized personal representative or legal guardian, and the physician of the resident or patient.  The facility would also have to notify as soon as possible, the person responsible for placing the resident in the facility and the county medical examiner.

The facility would be required to record the names of the individuals notified and the time notification was made in the resident's or patient's record.
