     A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled

 

"Michigan vehicle code,"

 

(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 803s.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

    Sec. 803s. (1) The secretary of state may issue to the owner

 

of a limited use vehicle a limited use registration plate which

 

shall bear the inscription "limited use vehicle-Michigan" and the

 

registration number. The registration plate shall be valid each

 

year from April 1 through September 30 until the registration

 

plate expires or is canceled as provided by law.

 

    (2) The owner of a limited use vehicle applying for a limited

 

use registration plate or a registration tab under this section

 

shall pay the registration fee for the vehicle set forth under

 


section 801 prorated for a 6-month period. The owner shall certify

 

that the vehicle for which the registration is requested is a

 

limited use vehicle, shall be operated solely as a limited use

 

vehicle, and shall be insured as required by law during operation.

 

The registration issued under this section is transferable to

 

another limited use vehicle upon completion of the application for

 

transfer and payment of the fee in the manner described in section

 

809.

 

    (3) A registration issued under this section shall expire on

 

April 15 in the fifth year following the date of issuance.

 

    (4) The secretary of state may revoke a registration issued

 

under this section, for cause shown and after a hearing, for using

 

the limited use vehicle during any period other than the period

 

for which the registration was issued or for operating the limited

 

use vehicle without the insurance required by law.

 

    (5) As used in this section, "limited use vehicle" means a

 

noncommercial motor vehicle used only from April 1 through

 

September 30 of each year.
