The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution.

            House Resolution No. 325.

            A resolution of tribute to the Honorable LaMar Lemmons III.

            Whereas, It is indeed a privilege and a pleasure to commend our friend and colleague, the Honorable LaMar Lemmons III, and to formally acknowledge the outstanding job he has done as a member of the Michigan Legislature. As he concludes this legislative session, we join in expressing our appreciation for his dedicated service throughout his membership in this legislative body. Representative Lemmons, who also gained invaluable experience as a legislative aide and in Wayne County government, was first elected to the Legislature in 1998 and reelected in 2000 and 2004; and

            Whereas, Representative Lemmons has maintained active community involvement in a variety of ways, including service as youth director at the Inner City Community Center, as a reading instructor, and as a school basketball coach. His commitment to our youth has also been exhibited by his service as a social science teacher specializing in African-American studies. He also is a founder and organizer of block clubs in Detroit and surrounding areas; and

            Whereas, As a member of the House, Representative Lemmons has shared his wide interest and experiences by serving as a member of the Transportation, Energy and Technology, Constitutional Law and Ethics, Commerce, Health Policy, Government Operations, Restricting and Elections, and Regulatory Reform Committees. He has also shown his extensive concerns for state affairs by introducing legislation in several issue areas, including neighborhood enterprise zones, single-gender schools,  school bonds, district libraries, and elections; and

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That tribute be accorded to the Honorable LaMar Lemmons III with gratitude for his service to the people of the state of Michigan; and be it further

            Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Lemmons as evidence of our gratitude and esteem.
