A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled
"The code of criminal procedure,"
(MCL 760.1 to 777.69) by adding section 27a to chapter VIII.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
CHAPTER VIII
Sec. 27a. (1) Notwithstanding section 27, evidence that an
individual has previously been convicted of a listed offense
committed against a minor is admissible as evidence of the
individual's character in any other criminal proceeding in which
the individual is alleged to have committed a listed offense
against a minor.
(2) As used in this section:
(a) "Listed offense" means that term as defined in section 2
of the sex offenders registration act, 1994 PA 295, MCL 28.722.
(b) "Minor" means an individual less than 18 years of age.
