A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6050 AS INTRODUCED 5-10-06
The bill would amend Chapter 8 (Probate Courts) of the Revised Judicature Act to allow county boards of commissioners to establish the fee probate courts may charge for performing a marriage ceremony. The current fee is $10, and was established with the enactment of Public Act 264 of 1972 (see the former Probate Code, C.L. 1970, §701.17). Probate judges can waive the fee for indigent parties.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill would allow for increased court revenue at the discretion of the county.
