The bill would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to make it a civil infraction for a person to possess a lit tobacco product in a motor vehicle if an individual under 18 is occupying the vehicle. No points would be assessed for this violation.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill would have an indeterminate fiscal impact on state and local units of government. At this time, it is not known what the costs for enforcement would be. The amount of revenue generated from civil fines paid would depend on the number of people found to be in violation.
