A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4264 AS INTRODUCED 2-15-05

House Bill 4264 would amend the Revised School Code to allow the school board of a first class school district to establish and maintain one or more schools in which enrollment is limited to students of the same sex.  Under Michigan law, only the Detroit Public Schools qualifies as a first class school district.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The bill would have no fiscal impact on the state but could increase costs for the local school district for any required administrative, personnel, program, or building changes related to the establishment of a single-sex school.
