Rep. George Cushingberry, Jr., from the 8th District, offered the following invocation:
"Almighty Father, omnipotent and omniscient God of the Torah, the Bible and the Koran, we ask You today to bless us and to forgive us of our sins. Father, be with us as we travel the byways and highways of this great state. Let us remember that Jesus taught us the greatest of all commandments are two; to love You and to love others as ourselves. Let us demonstrate our love by giving peace to those who are in prison, by assisting the poor and less fortunate, by being there for the sick and afflicted and by bringing love, truth and kindness to all that we meet. On this St. Valentine's Day we ask You to cloak us in Your spirit so that we may produce love for Your society. Amen."
