SUBSTITUTE FOR

SENATE BILL NO. 928

                                                                             A bill to amend 1947 PA 359, entitled                                             

"The charter township act,"                                                 

by amending section 8 (MCL 42.8).                                           

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1       Sec. 8.  (1) The proceedings of the township board shall be                 

2   published at least once each month.   The A publication of a               

3   synopsis of  such the proceedings, prepared by the township                

4   clerk and approved by the supervisor, showing the substance of              

5   each separate proceeding of the  said  board  shall be a                    

6   sufficient is in compliance with  the requirements of  this                

7   section.                                                                    

8   (2) The  said  board shall determine the method of                          

9   publication of all notices, ordinances, and proceedings for which           

10  a mode the method of publication is not prescribed by  this act           

11  or ordinance law.   The said board shall determine that such

2   board shall require 1 or both of the following:                             

3       (a) That publication  shall  be made in a newspaper  , as                   

4   defined by state law, which is  published and circulated in the             

5   township  , if there be one so published and circulated, or in              

6   the event that there be or, if no such newspaper exists, then in           

7   one published in the county in which the township is located.  ,            

8   or that such

9   (b) That publication  shall  be made by posting in the                      

10  office of the clerk and in 5 other public places in the township            

11  or by posting in the office of the clerk and on the township's              

12  website.   In case

13  (4) If publication is made by posting under subsection                      

14  (3)(b), a notice of  such the posting  , setting forth by a                

15  descriptive phrase describing the purpose or nature of the                 

16  notice, ordinance, or proceeding posted  ,  and the location of             

17  the places where posted  ,  shall be published at least once in a           

18  newspaper  , as above required, within 7 days after such posting            

19  was done as required under subsection (3)(a) within 7 days of              

20  the posting.
