SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 5992

                   (As amended June 22, 2004)                               

                                                                             A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled                                             

"Michigan election law,"                                                    

(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 309.                               

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1   Sec. 309.  [Within 5 business days after] certification of an election, each    

2   member-elect shall be notified of the election.  [Within 10 business days after]

3   notification by the school district election coordinator of                 

4   election or appointment to the board, each person shall file with           

5   the secretary of the board an acceptance of the office to which             

6   the person has been elected or appointed.  The secretary of the             

7   board shall forward a copy of the acceptance to the school                  

8   district election coordinator.
