sans-serif">House Bill 4139 (as passed by the House)

Sponsor: Representative Joseph Rivet

House Committee: Conservation and Outdoor Recreation

Senate Committee: Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs

Date Completed: 3-24-03

CONTENT

The bill would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to permit a member of the United States armed forces to present to the Department of Natural Resources duty papers, military orders, or other evidence acceptable to the Department verifying that he or she is stationed outside of the State, in order to obtain a fishing or hunting license for $1. Currently, armed forces personnel who are residents of the State may present only leave papers to the Department in order to obtain a hunting or fishing license for $1.

Under the Act, reduced-price licenses are available only for those licenses that do not require a lottery, and are valid for a two-week period during the season in which the licenses are otherwise valid. The bill would retain these provisions.
