        A bill to amend 2000 PA 92, entitled

   "Food law of 2000,"

   by amending section 7109 (MCL 289.7109).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

             Sec. 7109.  (1) A person shall not operate a bottled water

 2
        plant or bottle water for the purpose of sale or distribution in

 3
        this state without first demonstrating to the department that the

 4
        source, bottling facility, treatment and bottling practices

 5
        comply with 21 C.F.R. part 129, and product water meets the

 6
        requirements of this chapter.

 7
             (2) A PERSON WHO BOTTLES WATER FOR THE PURPOSE OF SALE OR

 8
        DISTRIBUTION IN THIS STATE OR WHO OPERATES A BOTTLED WATER PLANT

 9
        IN THIS STATE SHALL PROVIDE A CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT

        SUBSTANTIALLY SIMILAR TO THAT REQUIRED UNDER SECTION 14 OF THE

        SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT, 1976 PA 399, MCL 325.1014.  BEGINNING 1

        YEAR AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE AMENDATORY ACT THAT ADDED

        THIS SUBSECTION, THE LABEL ON WATER BOTTLED IN THIS STATE SHALL

        INCLUDE A TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE NUMBER AND INTERNET ADDRESS OF A

 4
        WEBSITE REGARDING THE CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT REQUIRED UNDER

 5
        THIS SUBSECTION.
