A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 374 (MCL 380.374), as amended by 1999 PA 23. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 374. (1) A school reform board established under this 2 part shall appoint for the qualifying school district a chief 3 executive officer. The appointment of a chief executive officer 4 must be by at least a 2/3 majority vote of the school reform 5 board. , and, for the 5-year period described in section 6 372(2)(b), the majority vote must include the vote of the super- 7 intendent of public instruction or his or her designee on the 8 school reform board. The chief executive officer is employed at 9 the will of the school reform board and has the powers and duties 10 provided under this part. 07249'02 TAV 2 1 (2) The chief executive officer, with the approval of the 2 school reform board, shall appoint for the qualifying school 3 district a chief financial officer, chief academic officer, chief 4 operations officer, and chief purchasing officer. These officers 5 are employed at the will of the chief executive officer. 6 (3) If a vacancy occurs in a position described in this sec- 7 tion, a successor shall be appointed in the same manner as the 8 original appointment. 07249'02 Final page.
