        A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

   "The revised school code,"

   by amending section 1538 (MCL 380.1538), as added by 1988

   PA 339.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

           Sec. 1538.  (1) An applicant shall pay to the department,

 2
       of education,  as a condition of having the application evalu-

 3
      ated for conformance with the application requirements, the fol-

 4
      lowing fees:

      cate, certificate reinstatement, or authorization issued pursuant

      to subsection (1) is valid for 5 years.

           (3) NOTWITHSTANDING ANY RULE TO THE CONTRARY, A SUBSTITUTE

      TEACHER PERMIT IS VALID FOR 3 YEARS.
