A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5830 AS INTRODUCED 4-9-02
Under the Food Law of 2000, applicants for a food service establishment license pay local sanitation service fees and state license fees, as follows:
· Vending machine location fee, temporary food service establishment, or mobile food service establishment, a fee of $2.50.
· Food service establishment or mobile food establishment commissary, a fee of $19.
· Special transitory food unit, a fee of $30.
House Bill 5830 would amend the food law to exempt from these license fees a veteran applying for a waiver of a license fee under Public Act 359 of 1921. (That act allows every honorably discharged member of the armed forces of the United States who served at least 180 days of active duty service or who has a service-connected disability, and who is a Michigan resident, to receive a veteran's license (without cost) allowing him or her to sell goods in the state.)
