A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5010 AS INTRODUCED 7-10-01
House Bill 5010 would amend the Management and Budget Act to require that county road commissions be allowed to bid on state transportation department maintenance contracts.
The bill specifies that if the Transportation Department contracted for the maintenance, repair, or resurfacing of a highway over which it had jurisdiction, the department could not prevent a county road commission from bidding on that contract. Further, a county road commission that received state funds for performing highway maintenance, repair, or resurfacing work would be considered pre-qualified to bid on the contracts.
