A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4767 AS INTRODUCED 5/15/01

House Bill 4767 would create a new act to permit a city, village, or township that transferred real property to the state for a designated purpose to reenter and repossess the property if the state ceased to use the property for the designated purpose. Reentry and repossession would terminate the state's estate in the property. If the state disputed a city's, village's, or township's exercise of the right of reentry and failed to deliver possession of the property, the city, village, or township could bring action to settle the question and regain possession of the property.
