A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4719 AS INTRODUCED 5-3-01
The bill would amend the Public Health Code to require a local health officer, or an authorized representative of the local health department, to test and otherwise evaluate the quality of water at public bathing beaches on a weekly basis during the swimming season.
The bill amends a section of the code that currently permits the local health officer or department to carry out tests and evaluations and allows the officer or department to petition the circuit court for an injunction ordering a beach closed for swimmers.
