House Bill 4429

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4429 AS INTRODUCED 3-7-01

The bill would amend the Revised School Code to include appointed board members in the code's requirement that valid acts of a school board be by a majority vote of the board members. Currently, the code says that an act of a school board is not valid unless voted at a meeting by a majority vote of the members elected to and serving on the board and a proper record is made of the vote. The bill would amend the code to say that an act of a school board is not valid unless it were authorized at a meeting by a majority vote of the members elected or appointed to and serving on the board (and a proper record is made of the vote).
