HOUSE COMMITTEE ACTION:

The Senate Fiscal Agency (SFA) analysis reflects the bills as reported out of the Senate Committee. An amendment adopted on the Senate floor extended the penalties provided under Senate Bill 373 for injuring a construction worker on a highway, to include injury to a farmer operating an implement of husbandry, or farm implement, on a highway.

The House Committee on Criminal Justice adopted a substitute for Senate Bill 373, and an amendment to Senate Bill 374 which changed the effective date from September 1, 2001 to October 1, 2001. The substitute for Senate Bill 373 also deleted several provisions in the vehicle code concerning license restrictions and revocations, which are either duplicated elsewhere in the code, or are reinserted by the language of the bill.
