ADDENDUM TO SENATE FISCAL AGENCY ANALYSIS OF SB 358 AND SB 670 DATED 11-4-02:

HOUSE COMMITTEE ACTION:

The House Committee on Regulatory Reform adopted a Substitute H-2 for Senate Bill 358. The substitute bill changes various dates in the act to 2003. By the time the bill passed the Senate, the dates noted in the earlier version of the bill had passed. Further, the substitute deletes a requirement that the Department of Consumer and Industry Services develop a plan for conducting no-cost walk-through safety inspections of school buildings constructed, remodeled, or reconstructed in the state since January 1, 1978, and that such inspections be conducted by departmental staff of the appropriate school superintendent.

POSITIONS:

The Department of Consumer and Industry Services supports the bill. (12-10-02)
